MY SUMMER
Students from form 6 wrote about the summer. Some of them used their imagination and wrote about a dream summer.
Read and enjoy!
Read and enjoy!
I had a lot of fun in the summer. At the beginning of the summer I made a trip to Hawaii. I really liked swimming in the pool. I stayed there for two weeks. At the end of June I visited my relatives who live in the USA. I hung around with my cousin. She showed me the city , it was so interesting. At the beginning of August my family decided to celebrate my birthday in Island. I enjoyed my birthday so much. The most of the summer I liked to hung around with my cousin in Seattle. I couldn`t believe that it is so big city. I enjoyed my holiday very much.

I had a very interesting summer. At the beginning of the holiday I made a trip to the U.S.A. I stayed in a beautiful hotel in New York City. We stayed there for 2 weeks. I saw so many skyscrapers. We couldn`t see any famous actors, but we saw Tyra Banks (she is a supermodel). I had a great time in the U.S.A. In the middle of the summer I visited my friend who lives in Milano. She lives in a big house by the sea. We swam every day. We went shopping and did it almost every day because my friend`s father is so rich. I were in Milano 3 weeks. In August we went to Scotland. We stayed there for a week. We lived in a cozy cottage near Aberdeen. I love Scotland because it is so beautiful there. Before school I just played with my friends.

At the beginning of the summer I went to London. There I saw Big Ben, London Eye and the Queen of England. And in London I rode on a double- decker. It was so exciting ride. In July I left London and went back to Estonia. At the end of August I waited for school.

At the beginning of the summer my friend visited me and stayed for two weeks. We went swimming almost every day. At the first weekend my another friend came over and we had a lot of fun. In the middle of the summer I went Tallinn with my mum, aunt and cousin. In Tallinn we went to the zoo and 5D cinema. We came back by train and we had a lot of fun. Me and my cousin were laughing all the way. At the end of the summer my cousin came over.

At the beginning of the holidays I went to a summer camp. It was a three- day- long and very interesting camp. In the middle of the summer I made a trip around Estonia. I swam three times a day. At weekends I helped my mother and went swimming. In July I went to Hansa Days. There were lots of singers and dancers and lots of other people. At the end of August we went shopping and bought some school stuff. My summer was very interesting and busy. I liked summer very much but it was too short.

THE END OF THE SCHOOLYEAR
Summer is coming soon and it`s time to make summer plans. Summer is the season of long days and hot weather. Our students get a holiday during the summer months. This is a good time to go swimming, fishing or camping, have a picnic or just hang around with friends.
Our graduates Märt, Kelli, Silver and Talmo have made their plans for the summer.
"I`m going to my granny`s. Maybe, I`m going to work. I`m going swimming with my friends."
Fireflies
by Evaleen Stein
Look! Look down in the garden how
The firefly lights are flitting now!
A million tiny sparks I know
Flash through the pinks and golden-glow,
And I am very sure that all
Have come to light a fairy ball,
And if I could stay up I'd see
How gay the fairy folks can be!
Watch the video and sing along!
Kelli
"In summer, I`m going to the Dance Festival in Tallinn. I`m also going to Finland with my classmates. We`re going to visit Fazer. I`m going to visit my uncle in Pärnu and stay there for some days. In summer, I`m going to the work camp in Elva. I think, I`m going to visit my friends, too."
Märt
"First, I`m going to have a rest for a week. Then I`m going to visit my grandparents or friends. I`m going on a trip to Ahvenamaa, it`s a small island near Sweden. I like Sweden and Finland very much. I`m going to my relatives` because they have birthday parties. When holiday ends, I`m going to buy some stuff for school. And I`m going to study more English."
Silver
"My favourite season is summer. This summer I`m going to do a lot of sport. I`m going swimming, camping and gardening. I think I`m going to do a lot of activities."
Talmo
Summer is a good time for animals, especially insects. Some of insects such as butterflies
and fireflies look pretty in the gardens. Unfortunately, others, such as mosquitoes make a tasty treat out of people.

VALENTINE`S DAY - 14 FEBRUARY
14 February is important day for those people who want to give a hint that they love, fancy, admire or secretly like somebody. Their valentine cards are either anonymos or funny, and nicknames are often used. The person who recieves the card must guess who it is from.
The most popular presents are red roses, sweets or cuddly toys.
In our school, our students make cards for their schoolmates and teachers. Nice and colourfully decorated cards will be put into the self-created letterboxes which are placed next to the classroom doors. It is always exciting to find out how many friends you have.

BIRDS
In form 6, we read a poem "WHO KILLED COCK ROBIN?" and talked about birds who live all over Europe and in Estonia. Some birds migrate, some birds stay in Estonia for all winter.
Märt and Silver wrote about two bird species.
Here they come!
Eagle
Eagles are big birds of prey. There are 6 species of eagles in Estonia. And there are more than 60 species in Eurasia and Africa. Compared to other birds of prey eagles are bigger and with stronger body-type. Also, they have a bigger peak. Eagles have large hooked peaks like all birds of prey. They also have an extremely keen eyesight. Eagles have strong muscular legs and powerful talons. Eagles build their nests in tall trees or on high cliffs. Larger chick often kills its younger sibling once it has hatched.
Crow
Crows live on all continents except Antarctic and South-America. There are more than 60 species of Crows. It is known that more than 10 species are extinct, and most of them have become extinct because of human activity. In Estonia there are about 5 species of crows. Crows aren’t very demanding for food and place to live. Many crow species have adapted to human activity. Crows are clever birds. Crows drop bread crusts to water, using them as fish bait. Since antiquity Crows are thought to be smart birds. The same goes to the creation of Estonian people.

Owls are very beautiful birds. Owls are very big and they live in forests. They sleep in a daytime and hunt at night. They eat mice, rabbits, rats, and other little mammals. The smallest owl is an Elf owl. Largest owl is an Eagle owl. Owls can rotate their heads and necks 270 degrees. They have very big eyes and their heads are usually round. They can see very far. Owl`s eggs are usually white.
Ravens are usually town birds but some ravens live in forests, too. Ravens live in North-America, England, Europe and Russia. Ravens are usually black. They eat trash and other stuff what they find in a city. Ravens have black and little bit golden beak. Ravens fight over food, I have seen ravens fighting. In Estonia there lives a common raven also named a northen raven. Common raven lives up to 15 years. Ravens are highly intelligent. In England there are the Tower of London ravens.

GUESTS FROM SWEDEN
On Thursday, 20 January Konguta School hosted our good friends from Sweden – Hans and Göran.
They have done a lot to support our school and students. We greatly thank them for that!
As Great Britan, so Sweden is also a kingdom. It is already a kingdom since more than 1000 years.
The Kingdom of Sweden is ruled by the King Carl XVI Gustaf.
This photo shows the Swedish royal family.
Our students sang a Swedish folk song „Uti Vår Hage“ („Blueberry Land“ in English) which is one of the best-loved folk songs among the Swedes. Hans and Göran said, that they used to sing this song in their childhood and they still like it very much.
Now you can listen to different versions of this song.
Sung by a solo artist:
