CHRISTMAS TIME - WRITTEN BY THE YEAR 6 STUDENTS

CHRISTMAS AT MY HOME ...

At my home Christmas is one of the most important holidays ever. In my family it is Christmas time when you are with your family and friends. Christmas waiting starts in my family with the first event. We usually bring a Christmas tree some days before Christmas Eve. Then we call all the family home to decorate the Christmas tree. We make some delicious Christmas foods and go to the churchyard to remember those who aren`t with us anymore. I am on purpose not talking about the gift because this isn’t the meaning of Christmas. Yes when you wanna tell your friends and others you care about them in this way then why not but always think is this gift present to global warming too. Anyways, every Christmas we decorate the whole house and make gingerbreads. In my opinion, Christmas is meant for doing cozy and heartwarming things with your family and friends and time to say that you are always with them when they need you and you care about them. This is the side of this holiday I love and we celebrate. Merry Christmas everyone!

In my home Santa brings presents at night but we open them in the evening and I am the Santa so the others sing or do something. On Christmas Eve our family comes together with some of my relatives. We eat blood sausage and sauerkraut and potatoes with lingonberry jam. We bring a Christmas tree in on the 15th of December and I decorate it with my mum. I really like Christmas because it's a lot of fun and I can go sledding with my brothers and sisters.

At my home at Christmas we have a big table where we eat with our family. When we have finished eating we open our gifts. But we can also open them sometimes during the day. Usually, Santa doesn’t come to our home but last year our uncle played ‘’Santa’s helper’’. If we have time we go to our grandma’s sister’s place. We play Christmas music through Youtube. Sometimes we even go sledding. We decorate our Christmas tree together with our family. We have lots of food and snacks on the table. Sometimes we have guests coming over too. Merry Christmas!

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT CHRISTMAS ...

I like spending time with my friends and family. Christmas is the best time to spend time with them. I like hanging out with my friends in Tartu. I also like decorating my room at Christmas. The third thing I like about Christmas is the great weather outside. I like the winter season because it’s beautiful outside but I don't like that it is so cold outside. I also like being at the table on Christmas Eve. When Santa comes in and leaves the presents under the tree and asks for a poem I like to see my family faces when they haven’t studied a poem.

Christmas is a time of giving and sharing; it is my most favorite time of the year. The thing I like most about Christmas is that Santa is coming and you get gifts. Of course, it's nice to decorate the Christmas tree with your parents. In my opinion, it is also very important to be with your family at Christmas and tell them how important they are to you. At Christmas I like to eat blood sausage, sauerkraut and oranges. And I like to drink tea, hot chocolate and cocoa. Oh, I almost forgot, absolutely it is very cool to go outside: go sledding, skiing, ice skating and make snowmen with your friends and family. Especially for me, it's important that there is snow on the ground, because I go to ski jumping training. One thing that all children like is that before Christmas the elves come and bring sweets inside the slipper. Merry Christmas to everyone!

The thing I like the most is unwrapping the presents.The second thing I like most about Christmas is eating the good food. I also like baking gingerbread and decorating them. I also like decorating the Christmas tree and helping my dad get it inside. I also like hanging out with my friends. I also like lighting fireworks with my dad and watching the fireworks. But I don't like reading the poem to Santa because if I mess up it's embarrassing. I also don't like waiting for Christmas to come. I also don't like that Christmas is so cold and that it goes dark so fast. Altogether I think Christmas is a beautiful time of the year and I really like Christmas.

The first thing I like about Christmas is baking gingerbread. The second thing I like is making snowmen and snow angels. I like to decorate the Christmas tree. Spending time with family and relatives. The third thing I like about Christmas is that my family prepares a Christmas week where people can visit us and make gingerbread, craft elves, having snowball fights. I like playing with my family, decorating the house, drinking hot chocolate, sledding and ice skating.

The thing I like about Christmas is making gingerbread. The second thing I like the most is unwrapping the presents. I also like eating the good food on the table. I don't like singing or doing stuff in front of Santa. But I like getting gifts from Santa. I am not sure when we bring the Christmas tree. I like decorating the Christmas tree. I like decorating gingerbread. I usually decorate the Christmas tree with my sister. We also usually decorate gingerbread together. I like being with my cousin more than my family on Christmas Eve. We usually all meet at someone's house and spend Christmas at their place with relatives.

CHRISTMAS EVE

In our family we usually spend Christmas Eve with our Grandparents and all cousins at our Grandparents` place. Christmas Eve is the most important holiday in our family. Usually, my Grandma makes delicious foods like boiled potatoes and sauerkraut. Every year Santa Claus comes to give us presents but we have to tell a Christmas poem. We also go to play in the snow with all our cousins and parents stay inside. In the afternoon, usually a Santa comes with a sleigh to give us candy at a bus stop. In the evening Santa comes to Grandma`s to give us presents that we asked for. We also get presents at home. I really enjoy spending Christmas Eve at our grandparents`. We have had this tradition since I was a little baby and it's really fun.
